User:Bob/Scratch/Post Attack USI

Note: This is just a scratch page now. I'm attempting to get a summary down for what has happened since the massive attack happened. I'm counting on Kriss to fill in what I've missed (and maybe even add some dates).

Also note, things on this page can ad will change as we add stuff. And sorry if this appears to be biased towards Bob. It is presently.

Bob working to rebuild the fleet and return communications links

--Original USI fleet size was 150,000+ ships before the attack. Around 3,000 ships survived, and Bob was able to contact about half of those in time for the attack. As time went on, more ships were discovered and brought back into communication.

--Bob took command of what ships remained, even though he then ranked as a Commander, he had previously been promoted up to Vice Admiral (before the longing to return to engineering got the best of him). This, and the respect he had throughout the fleet allowed him to take command of the remaining ships until other Admirals were found. At some point along the line, he was promoted back up to being a line offficer, but by then there were other Admirals who had been rescued/brought back into contact and he started doing less day-to-day running of the fleet.

--Communications, which had previously been routed through Tryst were severely disrupted or completely destroyed when the station was destroyed. Ships fell back to unreliable string-based communications, but as Darklin reach was brought back online, Bob had other engineers begin constructing new entanglement communications modules. This time equipping each ship with two or more, the help build a mesh between ships and make the communications network more resilient to future Darkarian attack.

Bob's attack on Servitta

--This involved massing pretty much every USI ship (and some civilian ships converted and pressed into service) near the the Servittan system for a large attack on the Darkarian position there and also to entice the main part of the Darkarian fleet there to keep them away from Darkaras.

--Attack was successful, but resulted in the destruction of the biospheres of most of the habitable planets in the Servittan system resulting in the complete annihilation of the Darkarian presence in the system.

--The attack had the intended effect of getting a huge Darkarian fleet to respond, intent on destroying the remnants of USI.

--Luckily, Stealth and crew had accomplished their goal of killing Torikor, allowing the USI fleet to utterly decimate the Darkarian ships, despite a numeric disadvantage of around 1000:1.

--Enemy ships still fought back, but without the hive guiding them, the Darkarian fleet was sloppy and un-coordinated, allowing Bob and the other commanders to use their still cohesive fleets to win the day.
